Dr. Brian Trapp was called to serve as the Senior Pastor at East Athens Baptist Church. He has served churches in both Knoxville and Chattanooga, TN. Brian holds three degrees from three different institutions: Bachelor in Arts from The University of Tennessee (Knoxville), Masters of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY with his and Doctor of Ministry from The Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC.
On July 25, 2021, East Athens called Dr. Brian to serve as the Senior Pastor.
 
He is married to Melissa (22 Years) and they have three children: Kylie, Emma Kate, and Drew.

Rev. Mike Dannel is in his 42nd  year as Executive and Music Pastor at  East Athens Baptist Church.  His service to the Lord includes the teaching, ministering, and directing all of the choir and handbells programs at East Athens as well as having served as the Youth Minister for 39 years. He graduated  from Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1978  and completed course work at Luther Rice Seminary in Christian education. Through his many years of service to the Lord, Mike has led various generations of children, youth, and adult choir and youth members to a further understand of the grace and truth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  
 
In March of 2011 the church family ordained Mike and called him to serve as Associate Pastor and Minister of Music and Youth, and now serves as the Executive and Worship Pastor.
 
Mike is married to his wonderful wife Michelle Dannel, and they have two adult children: Matt and Megan.
